Watch manual for Vostok watches

This instruction apply to watches that use the VOSTOK movement. Vostok Amphibian / Vostok Komandirskie K-34, K-35, K-39 are mechanical watches with self-winding and manual winding. Vostok Komandirskie are mechanical watches. Anyway, you need to wind these watches up to start the mechanism.

SELF-WINDING WATCHES
If you wear the watch on your hand every day there's no need to wind it up. The watch uses an automatic self-winding movement which powers the watch by motions of your hand. But if you do not wear your watch more than 24 hours it's necessary to wind it up.
MECHANICAL WATCHES need to be wound regularly.

WATER RESISTANCE
The level of water resistance of your watch is directly related to the security of the screw-in back cover, which is factory sealed:
  • Water resistant 5 ATM you can water your garden and wash your car with water coming out of a hose.
  • Water resistant 10 ATM (or 100 meters) you can swim and dive (but not from a tower) and swim under water but not scuba dive.
  • Water resistant 20 ATM (or 200 meters) or Water resistant 30 ATM (or 300 meters) you can swim under water with scuba equipment.
Water resistant watches of 10 or more atmospheres are, as a rule, equipped with screw-in watch crowns.

WINDING THE WATCH
Unscrew the winding head counter-clockwise from the case. This puts the winding head in position 2. Start winding clockwise by turning the winding head 25 to 30 revolutions. You may need to pull out slightly on the winding head, so it doesn't screw back onto the threads. Do not overwind to avoid the mechanism breakdown. When done, screw the winding head into position 1

SETTING THE TIME
Unscrew the winding head and pull it out to position 3. You will hear and feel a click. Turn the winding head (crown) counter-clockwise to set the correct time. After setting the time, screw the winding head into position 1.

SETTING THE DATE (if exists)
Unscrew the crown and pull it out to position 3. Set the correct date by turning the watch head counter-clockwise. When done, screw the winding head into position 1. There is a shortcut to changing the date. Unscrew the winding head and pull it out to position 3. Turn the winding head counter-clockwise until the hour hand reaches 12. Then reverse and turn it clockwise until the hour hand reaches 8. Reverse and go back to 12. This will move the date one position. Repeat as necessary. When done, screw the winding head into position 1.
NOTE: Never go directly from position 3 (the time-setting position) to position 2 (the winding position). Instead screw down to position 1 then proceed to pos. 2 So after setting the time or date, screw down the cap then go to position 2 to wind it up.
